Our Training Programs

Colt Starting

Our 30 day Colt Starting will focus will be to establish a solid foundation of basic skills and behaviors. This will include:

Ground Manners: Teaching the colt to lead calmly, stand quietly for grooming and tacking up, and respect the handler's space.

Desensitization: Introducing the colt to common objects and sounds to build confidence and reduce spookiness.

Basic Ground Cues: Teaching the colt to respond to basic cues such as walk, trot, and halt from the ground.

Accepting Tack: Getting the colt comfortable with wearing a saddle, bridle, and possibly other equipment like a surcingle or side reins.

Introduction to Riding: Depending on the colt's progress and readiness, starting to introduce the idea of carrying a rider with a focus on relaxation and responsiveness.

It's important to note that every horse progresses at its own pace, so the specific goals may vary based on the individual colt's temperament and development. The ultimate goal should always be to establish a trusting and respectful partnership between horse and handler.
